Introduction

When you open Connex either for the first time or after an software update, you may get the following error:

This application has not accessed this QuickBooks company data file before. The QuickBooks administrator must grant an application permission to access a QuickBooks company data file for the first time.

How do I resolve this error?

  1. Log into QuickBooks as the admin user.
  2. Switch to single user mode.
  3. Go to the Edit menu and click Preferences.
  4. Highlight the Integrated Applications preferences and make sure the Company Preferences tab is selected.
  5. For each row that says Connex, click properties.
  6. Check allow this application to read and write the company file.
  7. Check allow this application to login automatically. We recommend choosing admin or making a new user for Connex with admin privileges. 
  8. Click OK to close out of and save the preferences.
  9. A screen should be showing in QuickBooks asking you to grant All Orders permission to access your data. Select 'Yes, whenever this QuickBooks file is open'.
  10. Click continue to finish the process. Once complete All Orders should be able to sync with QuickBooks again.

I have a permissions error and I cannot check the allow access box. What are the next steps?

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to C:\Users\ENTER USER\Intuit\QuickBooks\
  2. Delete all of the folders.
  3. Login to QuickBooks as admin in single user mode.
  4. Go to edit > preferences > integrated applications.
  5. Check the allow access field.
