Since Avalara is managing Sales Tax Payable, there is no need to use QuickBooks tax codes. Avalara will add a line item called Total AvaTax to your sale. You must instruct Connex to map a tax code called AvaTax to the bottom of your order and map tax on all lines.
How do I map AvaTax?

- In QuickBooks, go to edit > preferences > sales tax.
- As the default code, select AvaTax.
I need to use QuickBooks to send taxable orders to Avalara. How do I perform this action?
Each order item that is taxable must say tax. Here are the steps:
- Login to Connex.
- On the right, click rules engine.
- Click action.
- Click upload
- Upload this spreadsheet. The rules will enter tax on all lines, regardless of tax on the sale.
