For QuickBooks Online, how do I sync with multiple company files?

Introduction

You can pair multiple companies under a single user name under the add companies menu. Most users who require pairing multiple files use QuickBooks Accountant edition, though this will work as any user. QuickBooks Online allows an Accountant access all of their client company files from a single area. The Accountant can select a client, view their apps, and login to a QuickBooks Online app.

How do I add company files my account?

Here are the steps:

  1. Login to Connex.
  2. Click the person icon.
  3. Click add companies.
  4. Click the connect button on the right:

  5. You will be prompted to choose a file. Click the correct file and finish the wizard.
  6. You will arrive at the my connections page.

You can verify the company file by clicking the person icon and my company.

How do I impersonate another user?

Here are the steps:

  1. Login to Connex.
  2. Click the person icon.
  3. Click add companies.
  4. From the grid on the left, click impersonate: client_company.jpg
  5. You will arrive at the my connections page.

Why is my user name different?

If Connex detects that your account exists with a different company file, Connex will add a new user with this format:

QuickBooks Online Accountant Email,QuickBooks Company File ID.

If you visit the Connex my company page, you will see this format:

username.jpg

Connex only allows one user per file, so additional files means Connex will create a new user. If you launch the Connex app, the system will detect the correct user to impersonate.
